The right to vote is under attack. In states across the country, conservatives have enacted discriminatory photo ID laws, cut back early voting, eliminated polling locations and done everything they can think of to make it harder for people to vote.

The bad news is that 2016 is the first presidential election in 50 years without the full protections of the Voting Rights Act. The good news is that people are fighting back. Courts are striking down discriminatory voting laws left and right, and many states have passed legislation to make it easier to register to vote in the past few years.
